THIS BUILDING, DATING FROM THE TOKUGAWA SHOGUNATE, WAS PURCHASED FOR THE PHILIPPINES ON 31 MARCH 1944 BY PRESIDENT JOSE P. LAUREL OF THE SECOND PHILIPPINE REPUBLIC.
