PHILIPPINE NATIONAL RED CROSS  

ORGANIZED AS A BRANCH OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS 30 AUGUST 1905, AT THE INITIATIVE OF MABEL T. BOARDMAN. MADE INTO A FULL-FLEDGED CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS, 1917; INTEGRATED AS A UNIT OF THE CIVILIAN EMERGENCY ADMINISTRATION IN 1941 AND OPERATED AS A SOCIETY SEPARATE FROM THE AMERICAN RED CROSS DURING THE WORLD WAR II. ON 14 FEBRUARY 1947, THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES ACCEDED TO THE GENEVA CONVENTION. ON 22 MARCH 1947, THE CONGRESS OF THE PHILIPPINES APPROVED REPUBLIC ACT NO. 95 WHICH GRANTED A CHARTER TO AN INDEPENDENT PHILIPPINE NATIONAL RED CROSS, WHICH WAS FORMALLY ESTABLISHED AT CEREMONIES HELD AT MALACAÑANG, 15 APRIL 1947, WITH MRS. AURORA ARAGON-QUEZON AS FIRST CHAIRMAN. THIS BUILDING WAS ERECTED 1932. BURNED DURING THE LAST WAR, AND RECONSTRUCTED IN 1948.
