CHURCH OF MAUBAN
THE TOWN, SUCCESSFULLY LOCATED AT THE PINAGBAYANAN, BALAYBALAY, AND SOLEDAD, WAS TRANSFERRED TO THIS SITE IN 1647. THE FIRST CHURCH AND THE FIRST CONVENT, CONSTRUCTED IN 1647, WERE DEMOLISHED IN 1769. THE SECOND CHURCH AND THE SECOND CONVENT WERE COMPLETED IN 1773. THE CONVENT WERE BADLY DAMAGED IN THE EARTHQUAKE OF 1830 AND REBUILT BETWEEN 1836 AND 1945. THE OLD CHURCH COLLAPSED DURING THE EARTHQUAKES OF JULY, 1880. THE PRESENT CHURCH WAS BUILT IN 1891. THE BELFRY, CONSTRUCTED IN 1773, WAS SERIOUSLY DAMAGED DURING THE EARTHQUAKES OF 1880 AND THE PORTION OF WHICH REMAINED WAS PARTIALLY DESTROYED AGAIN BY THE EARTHQUAKE OF AUGUST 20, 1937.
